Making Disciples
It's hard to get somewhere you've never been without a map, isn't it? Yet, most Believers have no map, no direction, and no specific destination in mind for their spiritual journey called life. Tragically, many churches don't have a specific plan and/or process in place to help their people grow into spiritual maturity.
However, that's not true for Fellowship Regional Church. One of our three basic purposes is "Making Disciples" in obedience to Jesus' Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). We take VERY seriously the task of helping Believers grow into spiritual maturity and finding their personal ministry. We give you the tools and train you in how to use them. Then you are set with everything you need to grow in your relationship with Jesus and your service to Him for the rest of your life. We call this process your spiritual M.A.P. and here's how it works.
Maturity/Ministry Action Plan (M.A.P.)
". . . let us press on to maturity," Hebrews 6:1
". . . fulfill your ministry." 2 Timothy 4:5
Step One: You sit down with a spiritual coach/mentor who will help you evaluate where you are spiritually at this point in your life. You will determine your own spiritual goals for the next three months. Your coach/mentor will help you set S.M.A.R.T. goals and the church will provide you with any resources (as far as we are able) that you may need to achieve your goals.
Step Two: You will recruit an accountability/prayer partner (we will help you find one if you need assistance). The role of the accountability/prayer partner is to pray for you daily and help you keep on track over the next three months. It most often works best if two members serve as each others accountability/prayer partner.
Step Three: At the end of three months you will get back together with your spiritual coach/mentor and re-evaluate where you are spiritually and what God is doing in your life. You will then begin the process again and continue to do so as you grow in spiritual maturity and a fulfilling ministry.
Please Keep in Mind: God is notorious for interrupting our plans with His own. We celebrate when we discover God at work in the world and He invites us to join Him. We make the plans to ensure we are moving in the right direction, and then we let God change them as He wills!
Youth: We will be using the M.A.P. process for middle school and high school youth. We lose way too many young adults after high school because they are dependent upon programs and pastors/leaders for their spiritual health. It is our desire to give them a process by which they take personal responsibility for their spiritual maturity and ministry. This process can and will work for them even if they move away from Fellowship Regional Church.
Children: We will be using A.W.A.N.A. materials for basic discipleship of our children.
